The Legend: Trickster…Warrior…Revolutionary. Sick of living under the yoke of the Jade Emperor, The Monkey King staged a coup against the Kingdom of Heaven using his wits, his cunning and a very big stick. A beloved figure in Chinese mythology, he exemplifies individuality in the face of conformity.

MunkyKing is built in his honor, creating art toys that embody his rebellious and creative spirit. Cast from the hearts and minds of artists from around the world, our collectibles have been influential pieces in the culture of Designer Toys. 
We started from humble beginnings in 2003 with a quaint little shop in Chinatown LA, the first designer toy store in Southern California. After expanding to a gallery and flagship store on Melrose, we continued to fuel the growth of the genre with art shows, signings, releases and special events. 

Since moving away from retail, Munkyking has spent the last decade creating designer toys with a roster of renown pop-surrealist artists. We also work with companies and independent artists to develop their own line of collectibles.  (less)
