(more)Founded in 1985 by Ben Dunn, Antarctic Press has produced American manga series including flagship titles Ninja High School and Gold Digger. The company operates on a philosophy of encouraging independent creators, and the bulk of its publications are fully creator-owned. In addition to its American manga, its output also includes horror (The Last Zombie, Teether), steampunk (Steam Wars, Gearhearts), action/superhero (Exciting Comics, Kamen America, Patriotika), fantasy (Dragon Arms, Adventure Finders), and a wide variety of "how to draw" books. It remains one of the longest continuously-running independent comic companies to this day.
