Alek is an American hero known for stopping a terrorist attack on a Paris-bound train in 2015 with friends Spencer Stone and Anthony Sadler, leading his military honors, authoring 15:17 to Paris, and starring in Clint Eastwood's film of the same name; he later served in the Oregon Army National Guard, including deployment to Afghanistan, and received the Soldier's Medal for his bravery.
After his service he became a public speaker, advocated for forest management, and entered Oregon politics, running as a Republican candidate. (less)
