This program and the partnerships it fosters are among the most successful conservation efforts in the nation's rich history of fish and wildlife management. Industry partners pay excise taxes and import duties on equipment and gear for purchase by hunters, anglers, boaters, archers, and recreational shooters. Eligible States receive the funds for fish and wildlife conservation. Since 1937, the WSFR Program/State/Industry partnership has provided about $16 billion of federal funds, matched with approximately $5.3 billion provided by the states. (less)
